Daily photograph challenge

I've started a daily photograph challenge to myself to try and take a photo of something that starts with or goes along with the day of the week!

Starting with Tuner Tuesday!

Hopefully I can keep up with this and find many interesting things to take a photo of or atleast make something that isn't interesting and make it interesting!

Been a year

Hey everyone! Its been a little over a year since my last journal entry, so I figured I'd give everyone an update! As of 1 Aug I sewed on Staff Sergeant, I'm currently in the process of changing stations to Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, I've bought a new lens a couple months ago (Canon 100mm Macro) and I love it! Hmm and that's about it. 

I'm pretty excited for Vegas, especially the drive there, although I won't be driving through Canada I will be driving from Seattle to there! Hopefully I'll see some beautiful landscapes to take some pictures of on my to Vegas! I still have an extremely hard time to find inspiration to go out and take photos, hopefully that'll change soon.

Some sad news, today the Air Force lost an extremely amazing SNCO, MSgt Marvin Jordan. I was deployed with him for the last rotation of the 70th MTD in and out of Iraq. He was a great supervisor and mentor. He will be truly missed and I  send my prayers to his family.

Stepping up

On August 2nd at approximately 0500 I had received a text message saying "congratulations". As soon as I came to and  could see the text I leaped out of bed and ran to my computer and got online to check a particular website. As soon as that page loaded I quickly clicked on the PDF file that was on the site and the instant that file opened I hit alt+F and typed my last name in quickly and hit enter. There it was confirmed, I had made it, I had passed the test on my very first time testing and I had made Staff Sergeant!! I am now a Staff Sergeant selectee, with a line number of 12962! I couldn't believe it! I wasn't really planning on making Staff on my first time but I am so happy!! I remember when I took the test over Air Force history and regulations all the studying I did went out the window, I had the deer in the headlights look at the test. But I charged through and after 4hrs of testing I walked out of the building and waited 3 months to hear the results! Apparently when I looked at my test scores on Thursday I had blown both the Air Force history and the test over my career field out of the water, in fact so much that I scored in the top 4% of the 33xxx that tested!! :D

I have gone from E3(Airman First Class) in BMT back in Feb. 2010 to E4(Senior Airman) in December 2011 to having a line number for SSgt! All in less than 3yrs of being in the Air Force!!! :) Unfortunately since I have such little time in service I will be in the last group of selectee's to sew on SSgt which will be June/July most likely! But thats ok, just knowing I made it is amazing!! =) I couldn't be any happier right now!!
